(10/23/2009) Announcing The Ninth Annual New Year’s Invitational, an All-Adult Non-Qualifying Competition, January 30 & 31, 2010 at Ashburn Ice House, Ashburn, Virginia, Sanctioned by United States Figure Skating. New this season is IJS scoring in Masters and Gold Free Skating, Pair events, and the Open Free Dance. IJS may be used on selected Compulsory Dances. (9/28/2009) Reserve February 27, 2010 for the WFSC Winter Social at Glenview Mansion in Rockville. Same location as last year, join us and celebrate our first South Atlantics regional competition, first Potomac Open as well as other group and individual achievements. Volunteers needed to help with food, activities, music, setup, decorations, cleanup etc. Contact

(10/14/2009) Congratulations to all our skaters at the
2010 South Atlantic Regional Championships as well as the
Non-Qualifying Competition. Click on each link for Results. Thanks to the many, many volunteers who donated their time and energy to make this such a successful event.
(10/14/2009) Saturday morning WFSC-hosted Freestyle Sessions are at Cabin John continuous Saturdays, now through March 27, from 1000a-1130a on the NHL rink. Pick-up for 90 minutes is $20; 45 minutes is $12. Payment (cash, or check payable to "WFSC") should be given to the monitor. Subscriptions will be available 11/21-1/23 and 1/30-3/27.

Cabin John Ice Rink. Extra practice ice is available on South Atlantics Ice, see session
flyer. The Family Sessions and Skill Sessions resume on Sunday 9/13. The Dance Sessions resume Monday 9/14.
(9/8/2009) Kristine Musademba has done it again, bringing home the gold medal from the ISU 2009 Junior Grand Prix, Lake Placid, in a field of 26 skaters! She now moves into the
Senior Ladies Top 20 list where she is currently ranked 19th in the world. Very impressive! Charlotte Robbins also competed, representing Great Britain placing 12th overall in her JGP debut with a clean program and a personal best score.
(9/5/2009) Parents Skate Too! WFSC adult skaters with young children are now joining forces to get more ice time by swapping babysitting for skate time! Contact Bridgette Pfeufer for more information.

(8/27/2009) Congratulations to Gabrielle Friedenberg and Benjamin Nykiel (Bowie) who won Junior Dance at the BC/YT SummerSkate 20 in Burnaby, BC. WFSC also won three more gold medals at the USFS Developmental Internationals
Quebec Summer Championships, August 6-9 in Pierrefonds, Quebec. Haley Dunne won Junior FS, Danvi Pham and Vu Pham won Novice Dance; Brett Dunie Neustadt and his partner Meredith Pipkin not only got first place in Novice pairs but were also selected for an upcoming JGP!

(7/3/2009) Congratulations to these WFSC skaters who have been selected for the developmental internationals in Canada: Haley Dunne, Junior Ladies, Quebec Summer Competition, and
Brett Dunie-Neustadt, pairs; and
Danvi Pham/
Vu Pham, Novice Dance.
Gabrielle Friedenberg and her partner Benjamin Nykiel have been assigned to represent the US in junior dance at the BC/YT Section Summerskate in Burnably, British Columbia, August 12-16th. Brett and his partner Meredith Pipkin were selected for an as of yet unnamed Junior Grand Prix event. Kristine Musademba has also been selected for a Junior Grand Prix.

(6/22/2009) June 22 starts the next segment of the WFSC Monday Night Dance Sessions at Cabin John. Subscription fees are $144 for 10 sessions. There are 11 sessions, ending on August 31. Skaters can pick any 10 of the 11 sessions to skate. Those skating 11 sessions will pay for the extra session at a later date. Walk-on fees will apply if skater does not subscribe.

The turnaround time of 30 days for processing applications. Rush service is available for an additional $15.00.

(3/11/09) DC EDGE won the Silver Medal in the Masters Division at the
U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. They also placed 6th in the Adult Division. Recruitment for the 2009-2010 season will begin in April.

(2/5/2009) Congratulations to DC EDGE for their performance at the
2009 Easterns Synchronized Skating Championships. The Masters team won the gold in their division, the Adult team came in second in theirs, and the Open Adult team finished 4th in theirs.

The Masters and Adult teams both qualified to compete at
Nationals, March 3-7 in Portland, Maine.

(1/23/2009) Congratulations to WFSC skaters at the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. Gabrielle Friedenberg and Benjamin Nykiel (Bowie FSC) came in 4th place in Novice Dance. Armin Mahbanoozadeh placed 6th in Junior Men and Kristine Musademba finished 11th in Championship Ladies.

(1/12/2009) Congratulations to Meghan Donaldson and Sarah Eisen who won the 2010 South Atlantic Regional Championship Logo Contest! Their design will be used on all announcements and logo items for the qualifying and non-qualifying competitions that will be held at Cabin John Ice Rink in October 2009. The logo has been approved by USFS. Thank you to all who entered the logo contest!

Important Notice Regarding Sanctions!!!
WFSC sponsored events are sanctioned for our skaters when required, but skaters need a letter of permission from the Club in order to participate in an exhibition or other such event hosted by other clubs or rinks. Sanctioned events ensure the protection of our skaters' eligibility for USFS qualifying competitions & activities. For more information, refer to the USFS Sanctions Primer. Please contact Ellyn Kestnbaum to request a sanction for an event at a WFSC rink (USFS requires 30 days notice to submit), or to obtain a letter of permission for an individual skater to perform with another club or rink.
